Basketball???

Okay, now how can anyone enjoy college football as much as basketball. Yeah, I know I had a post about Maryland vs. West Virginia a while back but who really expected the terps to come away with a win. I know I wasn't expecting the terps to win, but yes I'll accept all the smack talk you send my way. I haven't been a football fan for more than 5 years, but when it comes to basketball I've watched it all my life. In the history of Maryland and West Virginia competitions in football the teams have been almost 50/50 but when it comes to basketball have the Mountaineer ever been a contender. Since the end of last years basketball season I have been waiting for the Terps to return to the court. The Terps will returning to action on October 11th hosting Concording University. There schedule includes games against Illinios, VCU (the team that knock off Duke), North Carolina, Duke, and several other talented teams. I would expect this team to be on of the better teams that Maryland has had in a while. The starting lineup I expect to see consist of two very talented guards, Greivis Vasquez and Eric Hayes, two very strong fowards, James Gist and Bambale Osby. The question is who will the 5th starter be? With a very talented Freshman class expect Gary Williams to mix it up a lot. Three student athletes at Maryland have been in action in the off season. James Gist has represented team USA in the 2007 Pan Am Games in Rio De Janeiro. Landon Milbourne toured Holland and Belgium with the East Coast All-Stars. Greivis Vasquez played on the Venezuelan national team in the FIBA Americas Championships held in Las Vegas.

I expect a lot of this team this coming season. After being knocked off in the second round of the NCAA Tournament I believe William will be excited to improve. Could this team be a championship team? How will West Virginia compare? I guess these questions will be answered soon enough.

They surely can't play as poorly as the football team has been so far this season (then again, last year's football team turned it around the end of the year).
